The single most important factor in the success of any plastic surgery procedure is the surgeon and the surgeon-patient relationship. Choosing Aestique® for cosmetic surgery ensures that you care will be provided by a board-certified plastic surgeon, designated as such by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). In addition to his board certification, Dr. Lazzaro is a diplomat in aesthetic surgery, as recognized by the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. You’re in good hands when you’re with us!
Dr. Lazzaro has more than 25 years of experience in plastic and reconstructive surgery and his colleague, Dr. Jeffrey Antimarino, is experienced in the same areas.
The cosmetic surgery procedures we perform at Aestique® Medical Center in Greensburg are done on an outpatient basis. Outpatient surgery represents a substantial cost savings, and it minimizes disruption of your home life and employment. Arrangements can be made for overnight accommodations and transportation to the nearby historic Mountain View Inn.
Your appointment for a consultation begins with the receptionist. When you make your first call to us, the following next steps are as follows:
When you schedule an appointment, we require all of our patients to complete a registration form, a full medical history questionnaire, and a brief marketing survey. In order to expedite your time here in our office, please download the following forms and complete them prior to your appointment.
Because of changing schedules, we have a cancellation policy that requires all cosmetic/aesthetic consultation appointments to be secured with a credit card. Nothing will be charged to your account unless you do not show or cancel less than 24 hours before your appointment.
We understand that it is sometimes necessary to reschedule appointments. We ask that you notify us at least 24 hours in advance. This cancellation request is important, as it allows us to directly work with you to secure another appointment for you, and/or it opens a time slot in the appointment schedule whereby we might schedule another patient.
We accept all major credit cards.
This appointment is an opportunity for us to gather information prior to your meeting with the plastic surgeon. The registered nurses and physician’s assistants at Aestique® are highly credentialed and certified in the areas of practice affecting your care. Time spent with the RN and/or the PA makes the most of the time you spend with the plastic surgeon later. This complimentary consultation, scheduled through our receptionist, usually includes:
The time spent with your plastic surgeon is intensive. It is best to use this time to talk directly about the procedure(s) you wish to undergo and any special concerns you may have. At Aestique®, you might expect the following during the consult with the plastic surgeon:
NOTE: The Patient Financial Coordinator works with the physician during his office hours. She meets with all patients who are considering scheduling surgery. For medically necessary procedures, she will act as the liaison between you and your insurance carrier. Insurance participation and medical criteria for reimbursement of fees is discussed. The coordinator will verify your insurance coverage, submit letters of pre-determination when necessary, and inform you of your financial responsibility.
For cosmetic procedures, the coordinator will meet with you and provide self-pay quotes. You will be advised of prepayment due dates and option for payment, i.e. check, cash, money order, Visa®, MasterCard®, American Express®, Discover®, and financing options.
On some types of surgical cases, diagnostic blood work and/or pre-operative testing may be ordered. The staff will alert you if the procedure you are scheduled for has such requirements. Testing can be performed at any one of Excela Health’s QuikDRAW PLUS sites. Here are a few local sites:
If you are undergoing facelift or blepharoplasty, we will schedule a glycolic peel skin care session with an esthetician about one to two weeks before your surgery date. This treatment helps prepare your skin for the upcoming procedure. We will also provide you with Obagi® skin care products and instructions for their use.
When you surgery day finally arrives, you will check in with the receptionist at the front desk. Here, your insurance coverage will be verified and your demographic information confirmed. We will place an identifying wrist band around your right wrist, unless surgery involves the arm. At this time, we will schedule you first post-operative appointment with the nurse.
You will relax in the waiting room until a registered nurse comes to escort you to the surgical suite. You family may choose to stay in the reception area, or may leave information with the receptionist about how to get in touch with them when your surgery is complete and you are ready for discharge.
A nurse will escort you to the preadmission area. Your nurse will take you to the patient changing room and have you change into a gown, a cap to cover all of your hair, and foot covers. Your belongings will be secured in a locker, and the key will be pinned to your surgical gown.
The surgeon will see you in the preadmission area and confirm your surgical procedure, and make any necessary pre-surgical markings. The preadmission nurse will complete the necessary paperwork, take vital signs, and if necessary, insert an intravenous line. At this time, the surgeon or nurse will answer any remaining questions and review with you your post-operative instructions.
If your procedure requires anesthesia, an anesthesiologist will examine you and explain the anesthesia and recovery. A staff member from the anesthesia department will be with you during the entire duration of your surgery. He or she will be monitoring your breathing, pulse, and blood pressure, as well as administering medications for your safety and comfort.
Once surgery is complete and our anesthesiologists have discharged you from their care in the operating room, we will transport you to the recovery room.
The recovery room nurse will hook you up to a monitor to assess your vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respirations, and EKG. The nurse will ensure your comfort and safety while keeping your operative site clean and secure. Your nurse will stay with you throughout your recovery. The surgeon remains close by in the facility and is available if needed.
Once you have met the clinical criteria for discharge, the nurse will review all of your discharge instructions with you, assist you in getting dressed, and transport you by wheelchair to the front entry. We will release you into the care of a family member and give you written instructions for your recovery, any prescriptions ordered for you, and a post-operative appointment time.
When you choose to undergo cosmetic surgery at our Greensburg facility, you will receive a customized dose of anesthesia from one of the members of our premier anesthetic team.
The patient anesthesia experience at Aestique® Medical Center includes:
In addition to the anesthesia services mentioned above, our anesthesiologists also offer a pain management program for chronic lower back pain. This program involves the administration of epidural steroid blocks.
Recovering from your surgery is as important as every other aspect of your patient experience. Because you will no doubt feel well, you may want to return to your usual activities more quickly than “best results” would indicate. However, we urge all patients to stick to the details of your postoperative instructions. Your recovery time is a great opportunity to rest, relax, and take some time out from your busy life.
Throughout your recovery period, you are encouraged to call us as needed with any concerns, questions, or for emotional support.
A typical course of post-operative care includes the following appointments:
At this time, you will meet with the Private Practice Nurse who will remove your sutures and evaluate your healing. The following will also take place:
The nurse will then go over her findings with your plastic surgeon.
You will visit us again at this point. By this time, you should be well on your way to full recovery. For most procedures, you will return to work one to two weeks after surgery.
At this point, the focus will be on excellent healing and a smooth transition back to your daily activities. At this appointment you may enjoy lymphatic massage at the Spa and a camouflage makeup application and consultation, if these services are applicable to your surgical procedure. Read more about lymphatic massage below.
At this point, you will meet with your plastic surgeon, who will take your final clinical photographs. In a few cases, additional photographs are taken at nine months.
As mentioned above, if you undergo abdominoplasty, liposculpture, and/or facelift, you are entitled to a series of postoperative lymphatic massages. An Aestique® staff member will schedule these for you.
Lymphatic massages have been scientifically proven to benefit post-operative healing. Manual lymphatic drainage is an advanced form of therapy in which the practitioner uses a range of specialized and gentle rhythmic techniques to move the skin the direction of the lymph flow. This stimulates the lymphatic vessels that carry substances vital to the defense of the body and removes waste products.
The benefits of lymphatic drainage are considerable and particularly relevant in today’s environment where pollution, stress, and deficient immune systems make many people susceptible to contagious disease and viral infections. Lymphatic drainage clears blockages, eliminated metabolic wastes and toxins from the body, transports nutrients to cells, and increases metabolic efficiency. All of these add to the reduction of excess fluid and assisting weight reduction. It also has a calming effect on the nervous system and helps relieve stress and tension.
If you underwent abdominoplasty and/or liposculpture, you should have your initial lymphatic massage at the Spa approximately 7 to 10 days after surgery. Abdominoplasty patients should have their second massage a week later. Liposculpture patients should have their second massage two weeks later.
Facelift patients should have their initial lymphatic massage with the esthetician approximately 10-14 days after surgery, which will help resolve swelling. At this time, the esthetician will also apply makeup to cover up any remaining redness, allowing you to comfortably return to your daily life and activities.
Fees for cosmetic surgery procedures are all-inclusive and encompass the related costs of anesthesia, recovery, and post-operative care. During the consultation with the doctor, you will get an exact quote. This will be valid for six months from the date of your consultation. Certain types of cosmetic surgery are covered by insurance, and Aestique® Medical Center participates with most insurance carriers. Our staff will assist you in this area.
